Bangon Pilipinas: Send Help to the Victims of Typhoon Yolanda

Apparently, my plan to catch up on my blog posts in the last long weekend was a failure. So I promised myself, I will do it on the weekend after that. Last Saturday, when I was about to start blogging -- my Facebook newsfeed was bombarded with devastating news about Central Visayas. It was heartbreaking.

Minutes later, I turned off my laptop.

I was stunned and disturbed that I had a hard time sleeping. It was catastrophic!

Times like these make me feel thankful to God that my family is safe. We have food on our table and we can sleep well at night. But it's not yet a happy ending. We are not alone in this world, and thousands of our fellow Filipinos are homeless and looting to survive a day. There is no excuse for apathy, they need our help. We are lucky to be spared from the super typhoon so it's about time to do our share. To move. To help.

And when we help, it is important that we also make sure that our donations will not just land on the tummies of lazy crocodiles sitting somewhere or in someone else's bathtub. Let us be vigilant and donate to legit organizations only.

Here are some of the websites to check out for your cash donations:
1. Gawad Kalinga
2. Philippine Red Cross
3. World Vision Philippines

For donations from abroad, you can check UNICEF. CNN has also listed ways to help here.

The Filipino resiliency will definitely help us get through this. Let us all do our part and relieve the spirit of bayanihan. God bless the Philippines
