Mitsuyado Sei-Men (The House of Tsukemen)

Hubs brought me out on a date on the eve of our trip to SG (last month!). It was raining that night and I was having a craving for a quick fix of ramen so we scouted for the nearest Japanese resto within the area.

Along Jupiter St. in Makati, we found this place called Mitsuyado Sei-men The House of Tsukemen.

From outside, it looks like any other Japanese resto, but the interior surprised me. Inside, you will immediately be teleported to a street alley in Tokyo.

I also noticed that majority (if not all) of the crew (who are all dressed in white) are ladies, which I wasn't able to ask why :)

And here's what we had on our table that night :)

Regular-Sized Char-Siu Ramen
Tonkatsu

And since we were at the House of Tsukemen, we made sure not to miss trying out the house specialty: tsuke-men.

So what is tsuke-men? From their menu, Tsuke-men means dipping noodles. It is called that way because of the manner it's eaten. Contrary to ramen where the broth and noodles are in one bowl, for tsuke-men -- noodles and broth are served separately and you need to dip the noodle in the brought. Sawsaw-sawsaw lang :)

As cheese-lovers, we ordered Cheese Sauce Tsukemen. For this particular meal, as instructed by one of their crew, first step is to pour the cheese onto the noodles, then mix them thoroughly using a chopstick. Then, the dipping part comes next :)

They also don't serve tap water but green tea, just like in typical old-school Japanese restaurants :)

It was a wonderful experience. I loved my ramen only that the serving was so big and so filling, I had to take home half of it. For the Tsukemen, I loved the cheesy texture of the noodles. I enjoyed it even without the dipping part. I wast already too full also with my ramen but hubs said the taste of the cheese blended well with the pork broth.

Will I come back? For the ambiance, experience and food? Definitely a YES!! But next time I visit, I might try the Curry Tsukemen :)
