I don’t think I am pregnant. But in the past few days, I’ve been having a weird and crazy craving for Thai food. If you asked me last month what my least favorite foods are, Thai food would always end up in my Top 3. It could probably be associated to my not so memorable gastronomic experience in Bangkok years ago where I didn't enjoy the aroma of the herbs and “leaves” I had on my plate in one of our dinners.
But something changed few weeks ago when my whirlwind romance with Thai food started. Thanks to the ever adventurous palate of Papa who tried Khao Phad (Fried rice) from a stall in SM Food Court. And from there, I was mesmerized.
Last week, I was talking to my office mate about my recent food fantasy and my desire to eat in a Thai restaurant. And last Monday was my lucky day! Running late for work, hubby took a different route, other than our usual, to the office to avoid traffic in Ayala Avenue. And that’s when I only found out that there’s a Thai resto, few cartwheels away from my office!
Songkran is located at the ground floor of Valero Car Park II and is open at lunch and dinner time only. The dining space isn't that big so the tables and chairs are quite limited. The place isn't actually posh and fancy, the interior is plain and simple and looks more just like its neighbor store that serves Pinoy food at very affordable prize.
I ate there alone on my first visit but since seats are limited, I shared my table with three strangers which I didn’t mind at all because I was so engrossed in my meal. During that one-hour lunch break, it made me forget about my bulging tummy and my appreciating waistline.
During that one-hour, I was in pure eating bliss! :)

MONDAY
For a food lover like me, one of the best ways to spend me-time is by eating! Seriously, I am not kidding :)
I fell in love with the food! The next day, begged hubby to treat me out on a lunch date at Songkran! Thai food galore!

... nope, I passed today. Apparently, my reflection at the mirror last night didn't make me happy. Seems like all the Thai Iced Teas went to my cheeks already :) Plus the food price is a little expensive, around Php200-250 per person for food and drinks so I'd probably wait for the next payday before I submerge myself again into this addiction.
If I am to choose an ultimate favorite, it would be the Keang Keiw Waan (Green Curry Chicken), or no -- I mean the Kao Kruk Gapi (Bagoong Rice with Shredded Mangoes, Egg and Sweet Pork) or actually the Phad Tai or let's just say -- ALL!
So while I am waiting for my next payslip, I will just have a rest tonight and sip my glass of cold Thai iced tea -- in my dreams.
Good night peeps! :)

Mars, sa likod lang ng office namin 'to! Watta small world. We should eat together one of these days! Sa Equitable Tower lang ako Paseo, how about you? And in fairness nung kumain kami dyan box pa ung lalagyan nila ndi pa plate and super duper bagal ng service kaya ndi nako umulit, bka nag improve na sila ngaun. Pero ok naman ang food nila in fairness, kaya keribels lang.
ReplyDeleteSo ayun, we should meet somewhere in Makati! :)
