Halloween 2013: Rageddy Doll Costume

Unlike last year, we weren't too active in joining Halloween parties this time. From four, we've only attended two: in school and in Dad's office (oha, yan and di active!). For this year, I've envisioned Liapopot as Raggedy Ann. Surprisingly, Raggedy Ann costume is so easy to make and you can pull it off using clothes and items that you may already have at home. Here's how I did Lia's:

Things You Need for a Raggedy Ann Costume
1. A dark colored dress. Raggedy Ann is usually in blue dress but for my daughter, I used a red dress -a  hand-me-down from her cousin.
2. A white apron. For her apron, instead of pinafore styled apron, I used Lia's old white dress. Mama sewed the bottom part to make it shorter than the red dress.
3. Red and white striped tights. This one, I had to buy. But instead of tights, I got the red and white striped socks from SM Kids Section for only PHP59.00
4. Black shoes.
5. White bloomer. Mama made one, hand-sewn out of an old white skirt.

The highlight of this costume is the red wig. I tried looking for one when we were in Bangkok but those I found were either too pricey or too fancy for my Raggedy Ann. Luckily, I found a tutorial online and DIY'd using the following materials:
1) Yarn
2) Knit Beanie
3) Scissors
4) Paper Clip
5) Ball

After three hours, I was so happy with the finished product. We let her try on the whole costume to see how she'll behave. The theme of their school's party is "Hatty Halloween" so I topped the wig with a white hat to comply with the theme.

On the day of their school's party, she came like this. Rageddy Ann -- Achieve!

While joining the games, she suddenly realized the hassle of wearing her red thick wig. By the time the party ended, sans the red wig -- she became a Milkmaid  :)

For the Halloween Party at Daddy's office, we decided to let go of the wig that Mommy patiently crafted with love :) Instead, I bought red ribbons and tied it onto her hat and hair. On our way to the venue, while she was sleeping, I put a red dot on her cheeks and nose aaaaannnd voila, I instantly brought a real-life doll with me :)
