A Trip To the Philippine Air Force Transport Museum

One of the exciting parts of being in school is going out on a field trip. I remember looking forward to it and saving up my allowance to make sure I have enough pocket money :) Now that I have a school girl, I look forward to field trips on a different perspective -- as a parent.

Last month, my daughter's class visited the Philippine Air Force Transport Museum in Villamor Airbase. It was a short trip to culminate their theme on transportation.

The kids had so much fun! My daughter in particular enjoyed seeing "Osam eyplanes" (Awesome airplanes) and big helicopters.

Her inquisitiveness was also tickled and she did not let the opportunity pass to touch the big tires and propeller of the airplane.

They also had a photo op inside the helicopters and other airplanes outside. It was a sweltering yet fun filled activity!!

The Philippine Air Force Museum is a good place to introduce your kids to various modes of air transportation. It's also perfect for prenup or pre-birthday pictorial if you're having an airplane or travel themed party.

If you wish to pay a visit with your tot(s), here are some friendly tips:

1. Dress comfortably and appropriately. The museum is not airconditioned so it is best to wear comfy clothes. Sneakers and flat shoes is also recommended so you can roam around comfortably.

2. Bring snacks and water. There is no store inside so when travelling with a kid, equip yourself with the necessaries in case he/she gets hungry.

3. Protect yourself from mosquito and/or insect bites. Some parts of the museum are outdoors so to avoid mosquito/insect bites, make sure to put on some mosquito/insect repellant lotion. Making your kid wear pants or leggings is also advisable.

4. Protect yourself from the sun. As mentioned above, parts of the museum are outdoors so it is important to ensure that your kid has an umbrella, or a hat with him/her.

5. Bring a camera! Picture taking is allowed inside and you wouldn't want to miss your kid's reaction when he/she sees the airplanes!! :)

The Philippine Air Force Transport Museum is open from Monday-Saturday. Entrance fee is only Php20 and reservation is not required.
