Marufuku Japanese Restaurant

I wasn't very happy last night so the hubby's offer for a midweek date night just came at the right time. Well, it's actually a bad habit that we use eating as a resort to almost everything -- when we are happy, we eat. When we are sad, we eat. When we are excited, we eat. It's like the instant answer to all our our worries in the world :)

And since it was legit to splurge last night, we tried out this authentic Japanese restaurant in Ortigas. This particular restaurant has been receiving a lot of good reviews online so we decided it was time to find out what the rave is all about.

Marufuku Japanese Restaurant is quietly hidden from the busy streets of Ortigas and offers authentic Japanese food and privacy to its guests. It's sometimes called the "secret restaurant" because of it's location. The resto sign can be seen along San Miguel Avenue but actual restaurant is located at the adjacent street. Coming from Shaw Blvd., you can either turn right at Lourdes St. (along San Miguel Avenue), left to Pearl Drive, then left to Amethyst St and you can find the place sitting quietly in a corner to your left. Another option is to use the specially designated alley for the Marufuku guests on your right, along San Miguel Avenue. Just follow the sign and it will lead you to the door of the restaurant.

With the main door always close, and the quietness in the area, it is easy to think that they have packed up already if not because of this window that lets you take a peek at what they can offer.

Inside is a typical Japanese set up, with wooden accents welcoming you as you enter the moderately lit restaurant. A massive open kitchen is at the middle and the Japanese chef immediately caught my attention.

There were few guests last night and the ambiance is so perfect for a quiet Valentine dinner or for a first date :) And here's what we had on our dinner table:

Miso Chasu Ramen. Php280
Chicken Teriyaki. Php280
Gohan (Steamed Japanese Rice). Php70
Salmon Sashimi. Php440
California Maki. Php250
Japanese fanatics like us will definitely love the place. It makes you actually feel that you are in a secluded area in Kyoto, and not in the middle of the metro.

And when you say Japanese, "order" and "uniform" are just some of the words that can be easily associated to it. Check out my other photos which I uploaded on my IG account:

  2. I missed Manila and the food! There are no Japanese restaurants in here and so when I crave for something a la Japanese, we go to a Chinese restaurant which isn´t the same at all.
