Visiting Macao and The Titanic

.. continuation of our Hong Kong 2012 trip :)

Since this trip was a little longer compared last year, I decided to book a trip to Macau for a day. From Hong Kong, we took the Turbo Jet from Tsim Sha Tsui Ferry station all the way to Macau Ferry Terminal.
The ferry sailed really fast. We reached Macau in less than an hour and the wave really made me seasick. My little active baby girl vomited on our way back to Hong Kong :(

Macau is said to be the Vegas of Asia and is heavily dependent on income generated from the casinos. No wonder, because you can see grand casinos everywhere! Infrastructures are fantastic too!
And much even better when you see them glow at night!

Majority of our day was spent touring the city that includes a visit to the Ruins of St. Paul Cathedral.

Being formerly administered by Portugal, most of the street signs are written in Chinese and Portuguese.

The highlight of our trip to Macau was the visit to the Venetian Macao where we were entertained by shopping various ceiling paintings, shows, gondola rides and the the-day-never-ends ambiance.
But what I love most about this Venetian visit is the exhibit of the Titanic. Being a former fan of Celine Dion, who sang the OST of the 1997 movie, I didn't even have to blink when asked by hubby to choose between the gondola ride or entrance to the exhibit (both at MOP120/person).

Through the exhibit, I learned stories of the real people who went on board. I feel like I've known the Titanic deeper than how Jack and Rose introduced it to me. And just in case you still do not know, Jack and Rose aren't real. They are just products of the movie creators' imagination and creativity based on the combined backgrounds and stories of the real people who went on board.

Meanwhile, here are my realizations from this day trip:

1. In Macau, you wouldn't feel like you're in a foreign land because there are plenty of kababayans around. And what's nice about Pinoys is that we don't have to talk to confirm. There's something about the look in our eyes, and our smile! And when there's eye contact, we immediately greeted each other "Merry Christmas po!" which really made us feel better. Kudos to OFWs!

2. Macaoans love to say "Hello my friend!". That's based on our experience :)

3. Casinos there are like the 7-Eleven here, they're everywhere!

I would love to go back to Macau in the future. Heard the stage plays and shows there are world class. I'd probably take a visit again soon, but probably not via ferry anymore :)
