BCN 2013: Hola from Barcelona

Just when I thought that our one night stay in Dubai (due to flight delay) could have at least adjust my body clock to the time difference, here I am -- awake since 3AM local time :)

Finally arrived in Barcelona yesterday (Thank God!), after more or less 48hours since we took the taxi to NAIA Terminal 1 last Tuesday (PH time). The foggy weather in Dubai messed up all the flight schedule leaving us stranded in Dubai for one day. Thankfully, our DXB-BCN flight the next day left on time and arrived on time in the beautiful sunny city of Barcelona!!

Yesterday, we celebrated our wedding anniversary for the longest time ever. Started at 12AM Dubai time and ended 12MN Barcelona time -- 27 hours! How's that? :) Wearing the same clothes we had since leaving Manila, we went to Plaza Catalunya and took a stroll at the famous La Rambla -- the latter being famous for two things: shopping at pickpocketing. See, that is one of the reasons why we decided to leave the tot behind (which I think she enjoys a lot. Grabbed some of her photos from my cousin's FB page and looks like she's having a blast playing with her cousins in our province).

Barcelona life seems to be so laid back, and relax, and though it's winter -- the coldness is being balanced by an ample amount of heat and sunlight. I am hungry now (it's already lunch time back at home) but have to wait because breakfast is not to be served until 7:30AM (8:30AM on weekends). I guess, just like the blogger behind newlifeinspain.com (sorry, blogging through mobile and can't insert link) who has helped me a lot on this trip, I might have been born at the wrong country. If I was born here, I wouldn't mind sleeping and waking up late, and having breakfast at 8:30am or even later :)

Yesterday, we also met a Filipino in a bar at La Rambla. It's really nice to see our kababayans who are doing and living well abroad. Vicente has been in Spain for six years and he treated us to a nice tapa and a glass of sangria. Filipinos are really one of the bests... World class! :)

Side (funny) story about tapas: all the while, we thought tapa in Spain is the same with the tapa in topsilog at home. Our little Spanish didn't help in deciphering why there was squid and mushroom on the tapa menu. Yes, we were "innocent" to that extent!! Vicente was our saving grace! He explained everything in our native tongue. Tapa is actually "appetizers" served in small tapa plates :)

This morning, we'll be having a city tour to see the historical sites in the city and I wish I won't be too sleepy by then.

Here are my photos to share. Some of which I've already posted in my IG Account. Muchas Gracias!!
