Since we were travelling on a peak season, it took me and the PAL agent a while to finalize our booking. Most of the hotels were already fully booked as early as that first week of September. Travelling as a big family, we needed three rooms for two nights and Kikko's Boracay Beach Resort was our best option -- cost wise.
I wasn't expecting too much from the place especially when I asked the agent about where it's located -- it's neither on Station 1, 2 or 3 but in Brgy. Balabag and my mind went -- where the h**l was that :) Then TripAdvisor came to the rescue! Read about the reviews here.
Kikko's is a humble and modest hotel, neatly tucked away from the parties in Boracay and a good 2-3 minute walk away only from the beach. If you want a quiet night to end a day of swimming and partying, I suggest you go to Kikko's.
The staff here are friendly and helpful. We initially had a problem with our transfers from the airport to the hotel coz apparently, we weren't in the guest list of Island Star Express. I called the hotel to complain and in less than five minutes, I received a return call and Island Star even arranged a private van for our family (though I realized, I'd prefer to ride in a bus as it's more comfortable especially in a very long drive).
Here's some side story about Island Star Express, if you will travel to Bora for the first time, I highly recommend their service for the transfers (either to of from Caticlan or Kalibo Airport). Ironic as it is, but after they've accommodated us and after we got their stickers, which they give to their passengers as tags, we were treated very well during our arrival and departure. They even helped us secure Senior discounts for our dual-citizen (Filipino Citizen/Senior Citizen) grannies.
Back to the hotel, all our rooms looked the same and indeed spacious as seen on their website. They don't have connecting rooms but we all had verandas to the pool that made transferring the tot from one room to another more easier.

| Sorry about the bathroom photo, for some reasons -- this is the one and only that I have. |

1. Provides a quiet and relaxing evening as it is tucked away from all the party places in Boracay. Problem is, it will be quite challenging at daytime to go back and forth the beach. Well, it isn't that far really -- but for a lazy person like me, a climb uphill is a little tiring :)
2. Provides free shuttle service to and from D'Mall. Problem is, it's only available until 10pm. After 10pm, you need to take the tricycle.
3. Ala carte breakfast can be served at the dining area or at the veranda in your room. Unfortunately, their room service is only open until 8pm.
One thing I commend about this place is the excellent customer service. Surely we had some concerns, like the falling shower head while hubby was bathing (good thing it didn't fell on his head) and the room attendant who forgot to lock my in-laws' room -- but all were addressed immediately and nicely. They offered us to be transferred to another room because of the bathroom mishap but we opted to stay since Lia already laid out her things on our bed and the shower was actually fixed in less than five minutes. On our last day, my in-laws had extra breakfast and the manager even hugged all of us before we leave :)

ReplyDeleteBoracay is such a nice place to go to, even if you are not a beach person :) And yes, the manager (a she) hugged all of us. Including the daddies! :)

3500 per night? not bad. The room looks so nice and classy. But there are other great beach resorts in Boracay with lower price but same as that. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Kit for sharing the link. This would be very helpful :) Cheers!
