Lia has been attending her Gymboree classes for two months now. I wrote a related story about this here. At 13 months, she started with music class, then transferred to Play and Learn class after three sessions.
Being at
Lia's classes is like a stress reliever for me. Something I look forward to
every weekend. It has been our mother-daughter1 activity which I
enjoy so much as I learn about my daughter's skills week after week.
Recently,
she’s becoming more and more of a climber. Even her Teacher remarked last
weekend that Lia seems to be one of the strongest in class. She climbs here and
there like as if there is a price for the fastest climber.
So
far, Lia has been pretty cooperative and responsive, not unless a ball appears
in her peripherals2.
Aside from the fact that she loves balls3,
I am also beginning to conclude that her favorite color is orange.
Her socialization skills have been improving, too. She continues to love playing with bigger kids. She loves following and copying them.
Here she is jumping with an “ate” she met in a mall.
Unlike before, she pays attention to smaller kids now. Last weekend, we attended a baptism of a month old baby boy. My little girl, mesmerized as she is, touched and caressed the little boy’s legs while saying “baby” in her usual high-pitched tone. She kisses and hugs little kids too :)
She still loves to wave her hand and say “hi” to strangers -- and now with flying kiss4.
In her class last week, she played as teacher's little assistant in some part of the class because she didn't want to sit with me. Hehe.
If you ask me, I would say that the Play and Learn class is more fun (both for the kid and the guardian) compared with the Music Class. The former has more activities that encourage the toddlers to move and socialize. The latter is somewhat like a "mini" version of the Play and Learn class with all the singing and movements, minus the floor exercises (the jumping, climbing, kicking etc).
As of today, Lia is only one class away to moving up to Level 4 class as she turns 16 months this Sept.
Wee! Hep-hep! Hooray!5 :)

1 Since the Daddy is now pretty occupied even on weekends and the former helper did not return anymore after her non-scheduled day off :(
2 She will surely ran away even if Gymbo the clown is sitting at her side.
3 Which she can now pronounce clearly :)
4 Papansin lang ang anak ko :)
5 Lia can do this the cutest way than I do!
